Role Overview

We’re seeking a passionate and experienced in Indian vegetarian cooking to lead our kitchen operations and help shape the culinary identity of Dosa Chaska. This is a hands-on role for someone who understands the nuances of Indian vegetarian cuisine and takes pride in crafting soulful, regionally inspired dishes. You don't need to have an experience in the commercial environment as long as you have an experience of Indian Vegetarian cooking and passion about it.

The role begins on a freelance/self-employed basis, ideal for chefs seeking flexibility and creative autonomy. As our operations expand, there is potential to transition into a formal employment contract with fixed hours and additional benefits — based on mutual fit and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

🍛 Menu Development & Innovation

  • Plan and rotate a menu of regional vegetarian curries
  • Introduce new flavour profiles and seasonal dishes
  • Collaborate on dosa fillings and accompaniments

đź§‚ Ingredient Preparation & Oversight

  • Prepare spice blends, batters, and fresh produce
  • Ensure proper storage, labelling, and food safety compliance
  • Maintain inventory and suggest procurement needs

📦 Packaging & Presentation

  • Supervise packing of curries and dosa components for service and takeaway
  • Maintain consistency in portioning and presentation

  • Uphold high standards of cleanliness and food handling
  • Ensure compliance with UK food safety regulations

What We’re Looking For

  • Proven experience in Indian vegetarian cooking, ideally across multiple regional styles
  • Deep understanding of spice layering, dosa preparation, and ingredient handling
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of kitchen operations
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Legal right to work in the UK and eligibility for freelance/self-employed work
